Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing to book with Bay Tree Self-Catering. When you make this booking you are entering into an agreement with us. Please read our terms and conditions of booking below.

Bookings
Bookings are based on up to four people staying at Bay Tree Self-Catering for one week or part of a week.
Provisional bookings are only held for a period of 7 days.

Payment
A deposit of £100 is required to secure the booking and the balance is required 4 weeks before the commencement of the holiday. Where booking is made within 4 weeks, payment is required in full.
We accept any of the following methods of payment; Sterling Cash, Debit Card or Credit Card. We do not charge a supplement for payment by debit/credit cards.

Arrival
Check-in times are from early afternoon through to 21.00 on a Friday (or Monday for short breaks). Please state your approximate time of arrival when booking. Check-in times outside of these hours must be agreed at the time of booking.

Departure
Please be ready to leave by 10.00 on the day of departure, unless otherwise arranged.

Cancellation and Insurance
Once you have booked your stay, our agreement is a legal contract. If you need to cancel please contact us immediately.

For cancellations made more than 4 weeks in advance of the stay, we will refund your deposit minus a 10% handling charge. Any cancellations made less than 4 weeks in advance of the stay will also be refunded if the accommodation can be re-sold minus a 10% handling charge. If this is not possible, the deposit will be withheld.

For failing to take up the booking without cancelling you will be liable for the total amount.

If you need to curtail your stay earlier than planned, we will not issue a refund unless exceptional circumstances apply.

For this reason you may wish to take out cancellation insurance, which is inexpensive and can be obtained from any good broker.

Non-availability
We would only cancel your booking if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would make every attempt to find you alternative accommodation, however if this was not possible, or unacceptable to you, then we would refund any monies paid by you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.

Damages and Breakages
You are staying in our house so please do take care with our accommodation, its fixtures, fittings and furnishings and that you leave it in the same condition and state of cleanliness as it was found.  

You are responsible and liable for any breakages or damages which you cause to the accommodation or its contents. Please report these as soon as they occur. We do not normally charge for minor breakages, but we may send you an invoice for repair or making good if the damage or breakage is significant.

Car Parking
Parking at Bay Tree Self-Catering is available for one car on Victor Street using a parking permit. This parking permit is entrusted to the occupants and must be returned on departure. If this is not returned, we may send you an invoice for its replacement at a standard rate of £75.00 by the City of York Council.

Liability
We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees or contractors whilst acting in the course of employment.

Data
Any data gathered during the course of this booking may be held on our computer. We do send out an annual Christmas card to our regular guests but we do not pass on any details to any other party. Please let us know if you do not want to be contacted by us.

No Smoking
We adopt a strict No Smoking policy in all internal and external areas of the house. Should you choose to ignore this policy, you will be charged £100 for specialist cleaning to the house.
